The Millennium Development Goals Report 2010 point out that the connection between disability and marginalization in education is obvious in countries at all levels of development. Even in some countries that are closer to achieving the objective of universal primary education, children with disabilities are the majority of those excluded. Estimates signify that in excess of one third of out-of-school children have disabilities.

UN Facts & Figures about Disability:
In excess of one billion people universally occurrence some form of disability, the United Nations and the World Bank in a report that calls for the eradication of obstacles that often force the people with disabilities to the margins of society. The World Report on Disability, developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank, with contributions from over 380 experts, Professionals urges governments to intensify efforts to enable access to mainstream services and to invest in specialized programs to unlock the enormous potential of people with disabilities.” Disability is part of the human condition, said WHO Director-General Margaret Chan at a ceremony in UN headquarters to launch the report.”

President Asif Ali Zardari signed the Instrument of Ratification on UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at (President House) at a special ceremony attended by persons with special needs, members of civil society, NGOs and INGOs. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2006. So far, 148 states have signed and 100 have ratified this significant convention. The Government of Pakistan signed the convention on September 25, 2008.

Taking Care of a Disabled Child:
The word ‘’disabled child’’ can signify a child who is either mentally challenged or physically handicapped. The disability can take place because of some incident such as illness, injury or accident. In such cases, a child is not able to do his/her day to day activities and needs help and assistance from other. Attending to such children is a difficult undertaking and may also lead to a great number of stresses. Taking care of a disabled child is a difficult job and requires lots of patience and energy.
